A few months ago, I gave a talk at Over the Edge 2, an elite internet marketing conference Dan Raine and I held in Orlando. It's a bit rich me saying this, but I think it was the best two hours I've ever taught (if I do say so myself...)
Prepping for my session, I flung myself neck-deep into analysis of where internet marketers were stumbling in their businesses. Fear of humiliation really forced me to dig deep to find a real breakthrough to share...
You must understand, I'm always looking for a better way - to improve what I teach, to improve how my students do business. But in Orlando, I was sweating. After all, expectations were high. I'd be teaching a room full of power-players who'd heard it all before, at a very expensive, very high-end conference...
The question that kept eating at me:
Why do some marketers bust their butts and still don’t get outstanding results?
I knew the techniques we taught were solid. After all, I use them myself and have seen some of my students go on to achieve phenomenal success.
And then it hit me:
We weren't teaching a huge chunk of the Market Research process.
I realized none of my students were doing it because I hadn't really taught it! I'd only implied it and assumed people were doing it...
Let's take you as an example:
Just like I taught, you found a market (great!). Then you dilligently did your market research. Then you moved on to traffic and conversion and selling and affiliate products - just like you'd been taught.
The problem is, you were getting the techniques and the steps right, but were missing the critical element: continuing to learn about, participate in and understand your market...
THIS IS A HUGE MISTAKE!
When you look at the most successful Thirty Day Challengers, they've moved from doing market research to really understanding their market and on to being Market Leaders: the ones setting the opinions, holding the industry conferences, driving the direction of their niche...

And remember, implementing the Symphony of Four Parts in your business and making your move to Market Leader are parallel processes. It's critical they happen at the same time...
They're symbiotic - their interaction sets off a chemical reaction that explodes your profits exponentially!
This concept is foundational and bluntly, one I should have taught from the get go.
